Together With

Good Morning Chester County,

Welcome to September! Hoping everyone had a great Labor Day weekend.

Lil’ history fact for you: Labor Day was officially recognized as a federal holiday in 1894.

I don’t know about you, and I know I’m “technically” wrong, but I’ve always felt like fall begins at the start of September.

Clearly, corporate America agrees with me, as I’ve seen pumpkin spice everything back on the shelves and in ads.

By time “fall” really begins, I’ve worn my flannels and have already raked the leaves.

Just as the seasons go, you’ll begin to see a shift in events going on throughout the weeks here. Plenty of apple picking, hayrides, and such - less beer gardens and outdoor music.

Let’s enjoy it while we’ve still got it.

This is what we’ve got on tap:

  • Check Out Habitat for Humanity of ChesCo’s 22nd Annual Golf Outing

  • Mushrooms, Alpacas, & Classic Cars

  • ChesCo Trivia & An Adoptable Pet Success Story

  • +27 local events to keep your week going

The Blend

A curated mix of local stories, updates, and announcements from our team.

📍 Local Spotlights

We’ll be spinning up a new section of the newsletter soon, doing mini deep dives and telling the story of the many local businesses throughout ChesCo that make our county such a great place to live.

Since the beginning of the newsletter, the goal has been to help connect our county and highlight the great local businesses throughout.

We’re excited about these features and hope you’ll enjoy them, too.

♥️ Adoptable Pets of the Week

Go all the way back to our first newsletter (when my only subscriber was my wife!) and you’ll find I’ve been featuring adoptable pets.

It’s something near and dear to my heart, and many of you have shared your same feelings with me.

My hope, through sharing, is that we can positively impact the lives of the cats & dogs who are just hoping for their shot at a loving home.

So last week when someone in our community mentioned to me she rescued a sweet senior pup after reading the newsletter you really could not have got me down from cloud nine.

Thank you, Nikki, for reading the Buzz and taking a shot on Bruno ❤️ (dog pic tax below)

This senior fella now gets to live his days surrounded by love

🐶 Meet Fluff Puff

Just a short time ago, this handsome fella was neither fluffy nor puffy. Found as a matted stray, he’s had a long road to recovery but his happy and loving demeanor is a testament to the fact that we really don’t deserve the love dogs give. Both people and dog friendly, Mr. Puff here is ready for you to take him home. Do yourself the favor, and bring this good boy home.

🐱 Meet Hickory

Hickory’s past is a testament to why we shouldn’t take on the responsibility of pet ownership without thinking things through. Returned to the shelter two times through no fault of his own, this fella can’t catch a break. Despite it all, he’s gentle, loving, and ready to forget about his past. Whether he’s playing with a chase wand or watching the birds go by, Hickory will make a great addition to your home. But do me one favor, don’t make the commitment unless you can give him the forever home he deserves.

P.S. - If you’ve adopted a pet because of our newsletter, we want to hear from you! Reply to this email and tell us your story!

🤔 ChesCo Trivia

Since Kennett Square’s Mushroom Festival is happening this weekend, I’ve got some fungi facts to test your knowledge. Scroll to the bottom of the newsletter to get a bit more information about the correct answer.

Who is credited with starting the mushroom industry in Kennett Square in the late 1800s?
