Good Morning Chester County,

I made the mistake of taking a peak at the 7-day weather forecast last night and was left wondering if I was in Seattle or South Florida.

One of my close friends makes fun of me because I used to always say, “rain is good” whenever it happened as a way to not let the gloom infect my mood…but, I think I might be reaching my limit.

One note about this week’s events throughout the county: Most of them are outdoor, so if you plan on attending any please keep an eye on the forecast and use the links provided to see if there are any updates.

We’re not going to let any rain keep us down though, because this weekend we have one of my FAVORITE weekend-long Chester County events happening: Blobfest!

ChesCo’s Hub for Inclusive Community

Right here in Chester County there's a place where creativity and connection flourish for everyone. For over 35 years Camphill Soltane, a 501c3 nonprofit in Glenmoore, has been creating something remarkable: a community where people of all abilities come together through hands-on classes in ceramics, yoga, rock climbing, horticulture, and more.

What makes Camphill Soltane truly special are their three thriving social enterprises. At Soltane Cafe in Phoenixville, neighbors enjoy coffee served by baristas with and without intellectual differences. Their arts studio in Glenmoore buzzes with ceramic and mosaic artists of all abilities, while their horticulture program combines meaningful work in orchards and gardens with barista training in their greenhouse pop-up cafe.

This isn't just about offering programs, it's about proving that when we create truly inclusive spaces, everyone benefits. People build real skills, form lasting friendships, and discover their unique strengths while contributing to our ChesCo community in meaningful ways.

A closer look at the standout events happening this week

This week’s featured event is The 26th Annual Blobfest!

When: Friday (7/11) - Sunday (7/13)

Where: Colonial Theatre (227 Bridge St, Phoenixville, PA) & All Over Bridge St in Phoenixville

What: Every July, Colonial Theatre hosts Blobfest, a beloved three-day celebration honoring the cult classic 1958 film “The Blob.” Now in it’s 26th year, the festival draws fans of all ages for a fun-filled weekend that blends nostalgia, community spirit, and sci-fi movie culture.

Events include:

• The famous “run-out” reenactment from the movie’s iconic scene on Friday (a must-watch!) & Saturday

• A full-day street fair with vendors and entertainment for all ages

• Classic film screenings, including “The Blob,” “Gremlins,” and more

• Costume contests for all ages

• A 1950s themed “Blob Ball”

• Short film contests and a façade decorating competition

• Themed races such as the Blobfest 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon (linked in the events section below for sign-up!)

If you’ve attended before you know it’s quirky, fun and unique in a way that brings the community together for a weekend you won’t forget.
