🐶 Meet Storm

Storm is a 4-year-old Shepherd mix with a big heart and an easy-going vibe. He was rescued from Mississippi and overcame a tough start surviving a gun shot wound, but today he’s healthy, housebroken, great on and off leash, and happy to chill after a daily walk. He loves people (kids included), rides calmly in the car, and does well with dogs of all sizes. He’s smart, crate trained, and respects boundaries, so he’s an easy fit for a home that wants a friendly companion who’s up for exploring and then settling in on the couch. Storm isn’t a fan of cats, but if you’ve got a fenced yard or just enjoy regular walks, he’ll be right at home.

🐱 Meet Betty White

Meet Betty White, a sweet, snugly shorthair who was found as a stray in Philly. She’s super friendly, and the kind of cat who rubs on your leg asking for more pets. Betty just wants to be near her person, safe and warm indoors, and she’ll happily keep you company while you read, work, or watch TV. If you’ve been thinking about adding a chill, affectionate cat to your home, this golden girl is a great pick.

A closer look at the standout event happening this week

This week’s featured event is Science in Action Day @ Longwood Gardens

When: Saturday, 1/24/2026 - 10 AM - 3 PM

Where: Longwood Gardens - 1001 Longwood Road, Kennett Square, PA 19348

What to expect: Science in Action Day at Longwood Gardens is a laid-back way to see how the expert team team blends art and science to care for plants and local ecosystems. From 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, you can wander through interactive action stations in the conservatories to see floriculture demos, how last season’s plant material becomes living soil, plant conservation, and the tools used to manage 1,700 acres.

There’s also a panel from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm with voices from horticulture, conservation, ecology, and agriculture, digging into biodiversity and climate resilience in plain English.

The event is included with Gardens admission. If you’re a planner, grab timed tickets; members don’t need reservations. It’s a fun way to learn something new and enjoy the gardens in winter or a great way to show the kids how science and nature interact.
