Hope everyone’s dried off after a couple of rainy days. Nothing quite like a fall rain to remind you that the cold weather is slowly marching forward.

A few events that we posted last week were rescheduled to this coming weekend due to weather, you can find that info below.

I’m hoping everyone is taking advantage of the great events we’ve got happening this fall. Family fun, some good “night out” choices, and more ways to celebrate the fall are all happening this week.

🐶 Meet Twilight

Volunteers at LaMancha rescue lovingly refer to Twilight as a “stage-five clinger.” Which means she’ll be the biggest love bug you could hope for. At two years old, this beautiful GSD has eyes that you’ll get lost in and a soul that will bond right to your own. Looking for a house without cats and a new family experienced with the type of intelligence and sensitivity German Shepherds have to offer, she has been waiting to for you to find her. Time to bring her home

🐱 Meet Winnie

Winnie is a young American Shorthair who’s tentative shyness hints at a mysterious past which left her with some understandable hesitation towards people. Volunteers note that although she may seem shy at first, once she understands that you will give her love and patience she opens up to be the sweetest cat you could hope for. Winnie is hoping you’ll have room in your heart for her.

A closer look at the standout event happening this week

This week’s featured event is The Beans Story Slam at Sidebar

When: Thursday, 10/16/2025, 8 - 10 PM

Where: West Chester, PA

What to expect: New to The Beans Story Slam?

I was too, and found the idea so fun I had to feature it this week.

Think open mic + adult story time competition rolled into one. Its a monthly, theme-based open mic for true five-minute stories.

Anyone can toss their name in the hat and a group of 10 is randomly selected to share a true, five‑minute story.

October’s theme is CREEPY, so expect goosebumps, awkward laughs, and a couple “you had to be there” moments.

No notes, props, or music just you and the mic. The night’s winner takes a fancy prize and earns a spot in the Grand Slam later this year.

Not in the mood to share? Don’t worry, anyone is welcome to come solely as a spectator.

I’m excited for this one and love supporting unique events like this which bring everyone together. I hope you come check it out.
